Respirable Crystalline Silica Testing

What is Respirable Crystalline Silica?

Crystalline silica is a common mineral used to make products such as glass, pottery, ceramics, bricks, concrete and artificial stone. High energy operations such as cutting, sawing, grinding, drilling and crushing stone, rock, concrete, brick, block or mortar can generate very small (respirable) crystalline particles. When inhaled, these respirable crystalline particles can cause multiple diseases, including silicosis (an incurable lung disease), chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and kidney disease. … READ MORE

Methamphetamine (Meth) Assessments and Testing

with Remediation Protocols (Instructions) and Post-Remediation Clearance Assessments

What Every Property Owner and Renter Should Know
Currently Florida has no regulations regarding the cleanup of former meth labs, nor is the disclosure of a former meth lab required for home sales or rentals.

Buying or renting a home or apartment that was once used to make or smoke meth can be a serious health risk, due to meth residue left behind. During the illegal production of meth, properties will often become contaminated with hazardous chemicals. It is essential that any property that was formally used as a meth laboratory or even by a chronic smoker of meth should be tested (assessed) and if warranted, remediated by qualified environmental professionals.   …READ MORE

Phase I Environmental Site Assessments

Thinking of Purchasing a Commercial Property?

Phase I Environmental Site Assessment (ESA) is a historical and current review of the subject property to identify any potential environmental concerns and should be conducted any time you purchase a commercial, industrial or agricultural property.

The term “recognized environmental condition” means the presence or likely presence of any hazardous substances or petroleum products in, on, or at a property, due to any release or potential release into the environment.   … READ MORE

Allergen Sampling (dust mite, dog, cat, mouse, rat, bat, cockroach, etc.)

If you or others in your residence or workplace are experiencing irritation of the eyes, nose, throat or lungs, it may be due to allergens associated with dust mites, dogs, cats, mice, rats, bats or cockroaches. CFL Environmental Solutions Inc. can perform allergen sampling to determine whether your indoor air quality has been impacted by these type of allergens, and if so, provide recommendations for rectifying the problem.

Chinese Drywall Inspections and Testing

China-manufactured drywall may be responsible for health problems (such as asthma, coughing, headaches and irritated eyes) and metal corrosion in homes and workplaces (causing the frequent failure of air conditioning units and other appliances). In accordance with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission’s published guidelines, CFL Environmental Solutions Inc. can perform a visual assessment and collect samples of suspect drywall for testing by an AIHA accredited laboratory to determine whether your home or workplace may contain Chinese drywall. If Chinese drywall is present, CFL will provide recommendations for removal.

Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) Canister Analysis

Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) are emitted as gases from certain solids and liquids, including a wide variety of household products (such as paints, paint strippers, other solvents, wood preservatives, aerosol sprays, cleansers and disinfectants, air fresheners, stored fuels and automotive products and pesticide) and office equipment (such as copiers and printers). VOCs include a variety of chemicals, some of which may have short- and long-term adverse health effects. The health effects may include headaches, dizziness, eye, nose and throat irritation, and damage to the liver, kidney and central nervous system, according to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. If you are concerned that your residence or workplace may have elevated concentrations of VOCs, CFL Environmental Solutions Inc. can collect air samples for testing by an AIHA accredited laboratory to determine the presence and concentrations of VOCs and provide recommendations for reducing the concentrations, if warranted.

Legionella Bacteria Sampling

Legionella is a type of bacterium found naturally in freshwater environments, such as lakes, streams and creeks. It becomes a health concern when it grows and spreads in human-made water systems such as shower heads and sink faucets, hot tubs that are not drained after each use, decorative fountains, water features, hot water tanks and heaters, large plumbing systems and cooling towers that are part of a centralized air cooling system for building or industrial processes. Symptoms of possible exposure to Legionella include fever, cough, chills or muscle aches. If you believe you may have been exposed to Legionella, contact your doctor and local health department immediately. You may also contact CFL Environmental Solutions Inc. to conduct Legionella bacteria sampling for testing by an AHIA accredited laboratory to determine whether Legionella is present, and if warranted, to provide recommendations for correcting the problem.

Fecal Coliform Bacteria Testing

Fecal coliforms are bacteria found in the fecal matter of humans and other warm-blooded animals. If fecal coliform counts are high in surface water, a person swimming in that water has an increased risk of becoming sick from swallowing the water or from pathogens entering the body through cuts in the skin, nose, mouth or ears. Diseases such as typhoid fever, hepatitis, gastroenteritis, dysentery, and ear infections can be contracted from waters with a high fecal coliform count. CFL Environmental Solutions Inc. offers fecal coliform bacteria testing to determine the current level of fecal coliform in the subject water body and if warranted, provide recommendations for reducing the surface water contamination.
